Halfway

(I couldn't get Blogger to upload the picture, yesterday. So, this is only just now getting posted.)

Six months down on the picture per day challenge. Tomorrow is actually halfway through the year, but today is the day I finish out the first sketchbook.

Tomorrow, a new book for the downhill run.

Picket

One of the sections of fence I took down in the back yard, so that I could build the six-footer.

I'll put this around the front yard, one day.

On The Street

Saw this at a red light. Just had time to sketch the general shape. Couldn't get the rider before he gunned it off the line.

Sucka!

Okay, I know how many licks it takes to get to the Toosie Roll in the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop (Thu-ree...CRUNCH).

What I don't know is: Why do Tootsie Roll Pops come in both Raspberry and Blue Raspberry flavors?

Have A Seat

I bought this little chair for Colin to use, when I babysat him 10 years ago. He's a bit big for the chair, now, so I use it as a speaker stand.

Lights, Camera, Action

An old 8mm movie camera sitting across the room from me.

(I just noticed my last couple of pages in my sketchbook were misdated. I've fixed that.)

40 Years Gone

It was 40 years ago that Robert Kennedy was killed, as he was celebrating his win in the California primary. I often wonder how different history might have been, had he lived.

This picture of the young RFK suited me pretty well, in pencil, and I was loathe to risk ruining it during the inking process. So, I photocopied it, then inked and washed the copy. I am posting both, to illustrate the changes some of these sketches go through from initial pencil version to finished ink.

Educational

You learn something new every day. Today, I learned that if I try to draw a monkey, evolution apparently changes it into Australopithecus.

Yardsale Birds

I picked up a couple of small (1-1/2 to 2 inches) glazed ironstone birds at a yardsale, for a quarter apiece. I love the style of the work.
