Lights, Camera, Action

An old 8mm movie camera sitting across the room from me.

(I just noticed my last couple of pages in my sketchbook were misdated. I've fixed that.)

40 Years Gone

It was 40 years ago that Robert Kennedy was killed, as he was celebrating his win in the California primary. I often wonder how different history might have been, had he lived.

This picture of the young RFK suited me pretty well, in pencil, and I was loathe to risk ruining it during the inking process. So, I photocopied it, then inked and washed the copy. I am posting both, to illustrate the changes some of these sketches go through from initial pencil version to finished ink.

Educational

You learn something new every day. Today, I learned that if I try to draw a monkey, evolution apparently changes it into Australopithecus.

Yardsale Birds

I picked up a couple of small (1-1/2 to 2 inches) glazed ironstone birds at a yardsale, for a quarter apiece. I love the style of the work.
